“Dear 2018….”

Dear 2018,

What have you brought about thus far?

As I sit and ponder on the many blessings this year has already brought upon me, I bow down in submission to The Lord and thank Him for all that He has given me.

One very significant change that has happened is – I GOT A JOB!!! Like FINALLY, after 1 and a half years of waiting, I stepped into the working world on Dec 4th, 2017. All thanks to the founder of the company and his dear wife (also one of the Directors there) – two exceptionally kind and compassionate souls whom I will always be ever grateful towards. Their amazing company (which shall not be named), has not only provided me with a job, but also with so much more than that – i.e. the renovations that took place just to make it more accessible and conducive for me, the amazing HR & Admin team who have always been so supportive towards my needs and ever so understanding whenever I have to attend to my health, and not forgetting, my amazing colleagues who have been so very kind & helpful towards me every single day and have also been a great joy to work with.

To be very frank though, being an HR Executive is certainly not my ultimate dream job. My passion has always been to be in the mental health line of Psychology i.e. dealing with those who have severe mental illnesses. However, this has been an extremely great stepping stone for me as I embark towards the beginning of a seemingly interesting journey ahead. Here’s why. This amazing company, unlike many other companies, instills some amazing core values which really makes them stand out above the rest. Among these core values are; We Are One (emphasising that everyone is EQUAL no matter what background you come from or what position you hold), Safety from Start to Finish (ensuring that everyone is always safe while they are working and to stop work immediately if there are any signs of danger), Excellence In Everything We Do (providing the very best that we possibly can), & Social Responsibility (putting others above yourself and making a positive contribution towards the community at large whilst minimising the impact it has on our environment). These core values truly intrigued me as it is closely linked to whatever I have been taught along the years, as I was growing up, and are very much in line with what I have derived from the teachings of my beautiful Faith (the Bahá’í Faith). These values, I must say, have certainly brought upon countless fruitful results to the company and has also brought about UNITY amongst the whole team there and boy, am I so blessed to be a part of it right now! This also reminds me of a beautiful quotation by `Abdu’l-Bahá which states:

“God has given us eyes, that we may look about us at the world, and lay hold of whatsoever will further civilization and the arts of living. He has given us ears, that we may hear and profit by the wisdom of scholars and philosophers and arise to promote and practice it. Senses and faculties have been bestowed upon us, to be devoted to the service of the general good; so that we, distinguished above all other forms of life for perceptiveness and reason, should labor at all times and along all lines, whether the occasion be great or small, ordinary or extraordinary, until all mankind are safely gathered into the impregnable stronghold of knowledge. We should continually be establishing new bases for human happiness and creating and promoting new instrumentalities toward this end. How excellent, how honourable is man if he arises to fulfill his responsibilities; how wretched and contemptible, if he shuts his eyes to the welfare of society and wastes his precious life in pursuing his own selfish interests and personal advantages.”

As I continue on the path of this interesting journey of mine, I pray that I will continue to improve my skills whilst maintaining a humble posture of learning at all times!!

A shoutout to the respective company:

Thank you So Very Much for this wonderful opportunity! God Bless!

See you soon,
